第50回衆議院選挙が終わりました。選挙でも多くの偽情報やフェイクニュースが流れました。その結果、さまざまなファクトチェックがされています。その中で、「【速報】 石破 総辞職へ」というのがありました。しかし、日本国憲法第七十条の規定により、総選挙が終わって最初の国会が召集されると内閣は総辞職しないといけません。なので、このこと自体は、誤情報ではありません。
しかし、ファクトチェックセンターは、以下のように判定しました。
過半数割れが判明した直後、「石破 総辞職へ」という言説が拡散しましたが、誤りです。
検証過程のところで、以下のような文があります。
リンク先は選挙結果を伝える特集ページで、「石破退陣へ」などの内容は書かれていない。
ファクトチェックセンターの記者は、総辞職を退陣と頭の中で置き換えてしまったんでしょうね。実際、「石破 総辞職へ」という言葉には、与党が過半数割れをして負けたのだから石破首相は退陣する、という意味を持っているように思う人も多いのではないでしょうか。そういう意味では、「誤り」ではなく「ミスリード」の判定であれば、よかったかもしれません。
人というのはミスをするものではありますが、ファクトチェックは人に誤りだと指摘をするのですから、間違いがないようにチェックをしてほしいものです。
日経新聞は2024年9月11日に「ファクトチェック機関、運営岐路に 資金難や外部圧力で」という記事を出しました。経営基盤の脆弱さという言葉がある通り、ファクトチェック機関は儲からないということですよね。ファクトチェックセンター自身も、ファクトチェック機関が減っている理由と「狭義の検証」に止まらない大手メディアの役割【解説】という記事で、「継続への最大の課題はビジネスモデルの不在」という問題点を書いています。資金がなければ、品質を上げるのは難しいですよね。ファクトチェックサイトが誤情報の温床になっていくのかもしれません。
